Lucas Lanci, Quigley Fine Wines
August 10 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Lucas Lanci, son of former Rotary Club of La Jolla President, Marc Lanci, has become a serious oenophile. Lucas was born and raised in San Diego graduating from La Jolla High School and then studying International Agricultural Business at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. It was at Cal Poly when he realized that his passion in life is food cultures and winemaking. He decided to continue his education in Italy at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Polenzo, Italy focusing on regenerative agriculture and Italian food and wine. The experience and relationships during his masters program was once in a lifetime and he is forever grateful for that. He then moved to NYC for 5.5 years working at Eataly as a buyer, managing a natural wine store, and starting his own business importing olive oil from her relatives in Italy. He once again returned to Italy to become a professor in gastronomy, wine, and hospitality. Throughout this time, he always made it back to Italy to make wine and olive oil for the last seven years where he learned the ins and outs of vineyard management and how to actually make quality, terroir driven wine. Just recently, he returned back to his hometown of San Diego to pursue a new opportunity of running the tasting room and starting the national wine club at Quigley Fine Wines.
